Kangana Ranaut’s drugs remark angers Punjab Minister, says check Gujarat first

Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has stirred controversy with her recent comments on drug issues in Himachal Pradesh, drawing sharp criticism from Punjab’s AAP Minister Harpal Cheema.

Kangana, while speaking on the rising drug menace, warned that Himachal Pradesh could soon face a situation similar to Punjab, where, according to her, “many villages are having widowed women.” She claimed that drugs from Pakistan and Punjab are corrupting the youth of Himachal.

“We are getting reports from Himachal that some men sell household items and lock themselves inside houses due to this menace,” Kangana stated.

Reacting strongly to her remarks, Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Cheema said, “I would say that Kangana Ranaut must keep control herself. She just wants to be in the media. She has no knowledge about even basic things. Many states are much ahead of Punjab. Much more drugs are consumed in Gujarat. Kangana Ranaut must go to Gujarat first and check how drugs are supplied from its ports.”

This is not the first time Kangana has faced backlash from Punjab. During the farmers’ agitation, she was heavily criticised by farmers, political parties, and Punjabi singers for her comments against the protesting farmers.
