BJP Attacks TMC Over Violence
Launching a scathing attack on the TMC, BJP leader and co-in-charge of BJP West Bengal, Amit Malviya, wrote on X, “TMC’s celebration ends with blood on its hands. Again. From TMC’s victory rally in Muslim-majority Kaliganj bypoll, bombs were hurled, and in the chaos, a little girl, a Class 4 student, was killed. Let that sink in.”
He further questioned if this was the price of victory under Banerjee’s rule.
“A child.Murdered. While TMC danced to the tune of their “victory.” TMC is not a political party. It is a gang of vultures. They cannot win—even a bypoll—without shedding blood. Is this what West Bengal has been reduced to? Is this the price of victory under Mamata Banerjee’s rule?,” he added.
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury took a swipe at the ruling TMC government and said, “Everyone saw what the ruling government did after winning the bye-election… When they were celebrating, they attacked a family from the CPIM party who contested against them. They hurled a socket bomb, which was like a small grenade. A small girl also lost her life. It does not matter whether the TMC loses or wins, hooliganism is constant in West Bengal.”
Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar also reacted to the incident and said, “They (TMC) hurled the bombs. We have been saying that there is no democracy left here. They (TMC) have completely ended democracy, and that is why such incidents are taking place again and again. Mamata Banerjee and TMC are frustrated because the BJP got 74% of the Hindu vote. CPIM also got some Muslim votes. That is why they are trying to scare the CPIM workers with bombs. So that CPIM’s Muslim votes go to the TMC.”
