Stocks to Watch on March 4: Indian markets began the week with volatility but ended nearly flat, reflecting mixed cues. In today’s trade, stocks such as Paytm, RBL Bank, REC, ASK Automotive, and Intellect Design will be in focus due to various key developments.

IRCTC & IRFC:

The Centre has upgraded IRCTC and IRFC from Miniratna I to Navratna status. Announced by the Department of Public Enterprises on X (formerly Twitter), this promotion brings the total number of Navratna CPSEs to 26.

Power Finance Corporation & Adani Green Energy:

India’s Power Finance Corporation has refinanced a $1.06 billion (₹9,261 crore) construction-linked loan for Adani Green Energy, marking a potential milestone in the renewables sector. The fixed-rate loan, committed for 19 years, highlights the offshore fundraising challenges facing the Adani Group amid a US Department of Justice investigation.

Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs):

Sebi has granted all NBFCs, including housing finance companies, permission to invest in security receipts issued by Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs). This move aims to increase liquidity in the distressed asset market by broadening participation in acquiring security receipts.

Tata Steel:

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran emphasized that the demand for steel will continue to grow despite global geopolitical challenges. At the 186th birth anniversary celebration of Tata Steel’s founder J.N. Tata, he highlighted the importance of efficiency, cost management, and productivity.

Wipro:

IT services firm Wipro is expected to see a revenue growth of approximately 4.5% in FY26, driven by positive sector trends and a recovery in discretionary customer spending, according to Fitch. The agency maintained Wipro’s Long-Term Foreign- and Local-Currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) at ‘A-‘ with a stable outlook.

Metropolis Healthcare:

Metropolis Healthcare is set to acquire Agra-based Scientific Pathology in an all-cash deal ranging between ₹55-83 crore, depending on revenue and EBITDA milestones. This acquisition strengthens Metropolis’ presence in western Uttar Pradesh, following its earlier acquisition of Core Diagnostics for ₹246.8 crore.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T):

L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical has secured multiple significant contracts for infrastructure projects in both India and international markets. In India, L&T will build 765kV and 400kV transmission lines linked to a Renewable Energy Zone in Uttar Pradesh. Internationally, it has received an order for a 380kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) in Saudi Arabia and a new 220/33kV grid station in Abu Dhabi.

East India Hotels (EIHL):

EIHL, the parent company of the Oberoi Group, announced the development of two new resorts in Rishikesh in partnership with the Ladhani Group. The first will be an 80-key luxury Oberoi resort, and the second will be a 120-key five-star hotel under the Trident brand. Construction is slated to begin in early 2026 and be completed by 2029.

AGS Transact Technologies:

AGS Transact Technologies faces the initiation of insolvency proceedings by creditor Maxwel Aircon India Private Limited, which has accused the company of defaulting on repayments. The creditor seeks to initiate corporate insolvency proceedings with the National Company Law Tribunal.

RBL Bank:

RBL Bank has announced key leadership changes, with Narendra Agrawal being appointed president and head of branch banking and retail liabilities as part of the bank’s transformation strategy.

UCO Bank:

Sourav Kumar Dutta has resigned as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of UCO Bank, effective March 3, 2025.

REC:

REC will review its market borrowing program for FY25 in a meeting on March 7.

Paytm:

The Enforcement Directorate has issued a notice to Paytm’s parent company, its Managing Director, and linked entities for alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), involving ₹611 crore.

ASK Automotive:

ASK Automotive has entered into a technical assistance and licensing agreement with Kyushu Yanagawa Seiki for cast wheel production.

ITC:

Financial services firm Wells Fargo has sold shares of ITC worth ₹106 crore through an open market transaction.
