Maha Shivratri Traffic Updates: In Prayagraj city, vehicle entry will be prohibited from 4 pm on Tuesday on Maha Shivratri in the wake of ‘Shahi Snan’

Maha Shivratri Traffic Updates: Traffic advisories have been issued by the police in various religious cities in the wake of the upcoming Maha Shivratri celebration.

Maha Shivratri, which falls on February 26, will also mark as final bathing day of the Maha Kumbh. In the wake of the ‘Shahi Snan’, devotees are expected to reach Prayagraj in large numbers because of which special arrangements have been made by the administration.

Due to Maha Shivratri, a surge in devotees is expected in all religious places and hence, traffic restrictions have been introduced to manage the gathering of people.

Prayagraj

The entry of vehicles will be prohibited at the Kumbh Mela premises from 4 pm on February 25. The restrictions will be imposed in Prayagraj city from 6 pm on February 25.

Vehicles filled with essential goods like medicines, fuel, milk, and vegetables will be exempted from the restrictions.

Government personnel like doctors, police officers, and administrative staff along with emergency services will also have unrestricted movement.

Devotees coming from the Dakshini Jhunsi route have been advised to use Arail Ghat while those coming from the Uttari Jhunsi route have been directed to Old GT Ghat and Harishchandra Ghat.

People coming through Pande Kshetra have been asked to proceed to Bharadwaj Ghat, Nagavasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, and Hanuman Ghat, and those coming through the Arail sector should use Arail Ghat.

Ayodhya

Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi has made comprehensive preparations to manage traffic flow, ensure smooth vehicular movement and avoid any traffic congestion.  

They have also made special preparations at major Shiva temples like Nageshwarnath and Kshireshwar Nath to facilitate the surge in devotees.

The authorities have also implemented extensive crowd-control measures at Ayodhya Dham Railway Station to ensure smooth management and safety.

The devotees will be permitted to enter the railway platforms only when the trains they have to board arrive to avoid overcrowding.

An additional 350 security personnel have also been deployed across the railway complex in the wake of Maha Shivratri.

The officials have also installed extensive barricades to regulate and direct the influx of passengers at the railway station. They have constructed specific zones for the passengers to wait till their train arrives.

Bhubaneswar

A detailed traffic advisory was issued by the Commissionerate Police for the Maha Shivratri celebration at Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar.

As per the traffic advisory,

  • The vehicles coming from Rath Road and Punama gate side to Lingraj Temple will get diverted from Badheibanka Square towards BM High School ground for parking. No heavy vehicles will be permitted on Ratha Road.
  • The vehicles coming from the Kedar Gouri Temple side and Sanitarium Chhak side may use the Koti Tirtha lane via Kacherapindi Chhak. They will be allowed to park their vehicles in vacant spaces at the rear side of Taranga Club. Vehicular movement through Koti Tirtha lane will be made one way from the Sidhi Mandap Lane side.
  • The vehicles coming from the Samanatrapur side will be allowed via Sri Ram Nagar. They will merge at the substation square where they will be diverted towards the northern side of Ananta Basudev Temple and the rear side of Taranga Club for parking.
  • The vehicles coming from Keuta Sahi side will be diverted from Sriram Nagar to BMC market complex/Ananta Basudev parking and other designated parking places.
  • The vehicles coming from Tara Sundari Road will not be allowed after Badheibanka Chhak. They will be diverted from Municipality Hospital to BM High School ground for parking.
  • All the buses/heavy vehicles/cars coming from Mausima side/Kalpana side through Ramakrishna Math will be permitted till Saniorium Sqr. and the vehicles will be parked.
  • The vehicles of invitees or government officials coming from Rath Road may have to get diverted at Badheibanka square.

Bareilly

Bareilly, which has various ancient Shiva temples, has imposed a 24-hour route diversion in the wake of the Maha Shivratri festival.

To ensure smooth and safe traffic, Bareilly police have banned all heavy vehicles in the city from 6 pm on February 25 to 6 pm on February 26.

The diversion of vehicles will be as follows:

  • No heavy vehicle will enter the city from Parsakheda Road No. 01.
  • No heavy vehicle will enter the city from Vilwa Bridge/Lalpur Cut/Vilaydham.
  • No heavy vehicle will enter the city from Navadiya Jhada.
  • No heavy vehicle will enter the city from Transport Nagar/Invertis University.
  • No heavy vehicle will enter the city from Ramganga Tiraha.
  • No heavy vehicle will enter the city from Bukhara mode.
  • Heavy vehicles coming from Delhi and Rampur and going to Badaun will be able to pass through Jhumka Tirahe-Navadiya Jhada-Faridpur-Fatehganj East-Datagunj-Devhchara-Bhamora route. 
  • Heavy vehicles/roadway buses coming from Nainital and going to Badaun will also be able to go through this route.
  • Heavy vehicles coming from Pilibhit and going to Badaun will also be able to go through this route.
  • Heavy vehicles/roadway buses coming from Delhi and Rampur and going to Lucknow will be able to go through the big bypass via Jhumka, Vilva, Vilyadham, Faridpur, and Fatehganj East.
  • Heavy vehicles going from Lucknow to Delhi will be able to go via Bada Bypass via Faridpur, Invertis Tiraha.
  • Heavy vehicles coming from Badaun and going to Bareilly can come from Bhamora via Devchara Chauraha, Dataganj, Fatehganj East, Invertis University to Transport Nagar.
  • No four-wheeler, auto rickshaw, Magic, Max etc. will be able to go towards Alakhnath Temple from the Kudesiya underpass.
  • No four-wheeler, auto rickshaw, Magic, Max etc. will be allowed to go towards Alakhnath Temple from the fort crossing.
  • No four-wheeler, auto rickshaw, Magic, Max etc. will be permitted to go towards Kali Bari from Shyamatganj/Bareilly College gate.

Nashik

In the wake of Maha Shivratri, the traffic around Sri Kapaleshwar Temple in the Ramkund area will face some restrictions in Nashik.

Vehicles will not be permitted to enter the Ramkund area from 5 am to 12 pm on Wednesday (February 26).

The routes where closures will be enforced are Dhikle Public Library to Kapaleshwar Temple, Malegaon Stand to Shree Kapaleshwar Temple, Sardar Chowk to Kapaleshwar Temple, Gadge Maharaj Bridge to Shree Kapaleshwar Temple, Maharashtra Iron Works to Khandwe Hall, and Malviya Chowk to Khandwe Hall. The road closures will remain enforced for the entire day.

The processions will move through Sri Kapaleshwar Temple, Panchavati Karanja, Dhikale Library, and Saddar Chowk-Kalaram Temple to avoid traffic congestion.
